Overall Purpose of Role

The Specialist Risk Group is seeking to hire an experienced compliance specialist to join their growing business. The role will be to provide advisory services to their retail and MGA business pillars and work with the wider compliance team to develop and embed the group-wide conduct risk framework. They will also be responsible for enhancing the reporting and mitigation of risk within the group.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Regulatory/FCA Specific Matters
    Help in the identification of forthcoming regulatory changes and provide appropriate notification to all key stakeholders in a timely manner.
    Ensure that all key stakeholders are kept abreast of FCA initiatives, updates and enforcement actions that may impact upon the business and work with the wider compliance team to asses the impact and plan appropriate interventions.
    Control the review process for new and existing ARs.

  • 2. Business/Culture Support and Advisory
    Attend business and governance meetings.
    Promote an open line of communication with the business and provide the business with expert advice on, and pragmatic solutions to regulatory matters.

  • 3. Annual Planning Process and Conduct Risk Framework
    Contribute to the development of the annual compliance plan and play a key role in delivering it.
    Contribute to the development of the conduct risk framework.

  • 4. Policies and Procedure
    Provide support in the creation, delivery and maintenance of group compliance standards, policies and procedures.

  • 5. Training and Communications
    In collaboration with pillar colleagues develop tools to help manage regulatory risk in day-to-day client-facing activities and ensure that they are embedded through appropriate training.

  • 6. Risk
    Run SRG’s risk register by working closely with the business to identify emerging risks and ensuring that there are plans in place to mitigate them.
    Help to instil a risk aware culture.

  • 7. Liaison between Internal Audit
    Collaborate with Internal Audit on projects of mutual interest/benefit that enhance the effectiveness of internal controls.

  • 8. Routine legal documents.
    Assist in the negotiation and agreement of documents such as insurer and intermediary TOBAs.

About you:
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to deal with complex situations calmly and constructively.
  • A commercial pragmatic approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment at all levels within the organisation.
  • 5 years plus experience operating in a Compliance function of an Insurance intermediary or insurer in the UK, ideally with a mix of consumer and commercial clients.
  • Understanding of Lloyds and London Insurance Market
  • Ideally, candidates will have a proven track record of playing a significant part in the build-out of a compliance function.
  • Strong, demonstrable knowledge of legislation and regulation applicable to SRG.
